Tag: Swine Flu

We are ever more at at more risk from the various mutations of the flu virus than we have been for a very long time. First we had concerns about bird flu, but recently swine flu has become a major health problem. Swine flu is a greater problem than bird flu. It was feared that bird flu may change into a strain that could become infectious in humans, thankfully, apart from a few cases, this has not happened.

Swine flu is of more concern, it already has the ability to pass from person to person making it an extremely serious threat.  So what is swine flu. Swine flu, or influenza A (H1N1), is an illness that effects pigs, swine flu is the result of an influenza virus. Swine flu outbreaks in pigs is quite common and is rarely fatal. Swine flu does not usually infect people, but it can occur occasionally when humans have been close contact with infected pigs.

Swine flu is a new strain of virus and is therefore very dangerous. This means that no one has been in contact with this strain before, and therefore no one has developed any immunity to this strain. With no built in immunity a virus is life threatening, as our bodies are unable to fight the virus. Absolutely everyone is susceptible, including healthy adults as well as the young and the elderly.

Swine flu could easily result in a pandemic influenza situation. Pandemic flu occurs when an influenza virus develops that is different from previous flu strains that very few, if any, people have any immunity to. This lets the influenza virus to spread rapidly in the population.

Seasonal flu and swine flu differ as detailed below  Ordinary flu occurs yearly, usually in the winter months. About between 10 and 15 percent of the population are effected and the majority will recover with no treatment in 1 to 2 weeks.

A pandemic outbreak of influenza affects more of the population with up to half of all people affected. Pandemic Influenza affects people of every age.

The symptoms of swine flu are similar to the symptoms of ordinary flu. Symptoms include a sudden onset of a fever, cough or shortness of breath. Other symptoms that may present themselves may include headache, sore throats, muscle aches, chills, sneezing, a runny nose, loss of appetite and tiredness.

Precautions that can be taken. Anyone with flu or cold symptoms should take some simple precautions. The flu virus is spread between people from the small droplets from the nose and mouth when someone sneezes or coughs. This is the way viruses are spread from person to person. Using your hands when you cough or sneeze is not effective enough. The germs simply sit on your hands, and everything you touch becomes contaminated with germs. Other people can touch these surfaces and become infected. Always use a handkerchief or tissue. A tissue is much better, the tissue should be disposed of safely as soon as possible, and always use a fresh tissue when you sneeze or cough again.

There are currently no vaccinations to prevent anyone catching swine flu. Swine flu is a new type of virus. The seasonal vaccination against the normal seasonal flu is ineffective for swine flu. When the type of flu causing swine flu is identified, it will then take many months to manufacture. By this time, it may well have mutated into a different strain again.

The best precaution you can make against swine flu is Tamiflu. Tamiflu is not guaranteed to prevent swine flu, but when someone has been in contact with another individual who has the flu virus, Tamiflu may help to stop the flu virus making a person sick. If Tamiflu is taken within 2 days of acquiring the flu virus, it may help to stop the virus spreading throughout the body, thereby reducing the symptoms and risk associated with the swine flu virus. Governments worldwide are stocking up on Tamiflu, these supplies will be used to treat key workers before the population at large.

can buy Tamiflu no prescription, if the situation occurs you are able to protect yourself and your loved ones as much as possible. It can’t be emphasized enough, Tamiflu needs to be taken as soon as is possible to be effective, delays in treatment will reduce how effective Tamiflu is.

Remember, swine flu is a worldwide danger. Should a pandemic outbreak become global it is possible that supplies of Tamiflu may become low and may not be high enough to meet a large worldwide demand.  Until such time that a vaccine is discovered and manufactured in the quantities needed, Tamiflu is the most effective treatment for the swine flu virus, it would sensible to buy Tamiflu online beforehand if you feel you could be at risk.

SWINE FLU PANDEMIC - PHASE 5

Acting Surgeon General Rear Admiral Steven. Galson, M.D. explains that a Phase 5 Pandemic Alert in reference to the Swine Flu pandemic is really just an administrative classification that allows federal, state and local level emergency workers to communicate with each other concerning this 'new' disease.

In explaining this he is very careful to reiterate that this does not have any direct effect on the number of cases of Swine Flu that have been reported nor the severity of the disease in those affected.

My first question after hearing him is, "Exactly who is this man working for?”

If he, as the Surgeon General of the United States, is not working for the American people…so then, exactly who is he working for?

The deliberate attempt to make light of the number of people inflicted, dead and dying from this disease strikes me as heartless and uncaring. Yet he seems preoccupied with downplaying the severity of this disease and playing up his obligation to doctors, hospitals and other health care workers. Now, this is not necessarily a bad thing, but is it what we need at this time of a pandemic alert when our families are in direct danger.

We, the public, expect some information from him on the very things he doesn't have time to give us…namely, how many infected, how bad this disease is in America right now and what, if any, further precautions we should take.

If you haven't seen his latest video, you can Google it…just don't expect it to be of any use to you if you are living in an affected area or one that may soon be affected.

According to the esteemed World Health Organization (WHO);

A Phase 5 Pandemic Alert means widespread human-to-human infection.

A Phase 5 Pandemic Alert means a pandemic is IMMINENT!

Phase 5 Pandemic Alert means that the time is short!

Every single one of these recommendations by WHO tell us that if you are not now in an affected area, you soon will be. No ifs, ands nor buts.

These are the points our Surgeon General should have reiterated instead of clarifying Phase Five Pandemic Alert as just an administrative classification used by bean-counters to keep their records straight.

Next is Phase 6 Pandemic Alert. By the time we receive this warning, it will already be too late. Phase Six, when it hits, will mean that a global pandemic is already underway and millions are infected, dead, and dying.

So obviously it is every man for himself because it appears that your Surgeon General isn't concerned whether you live or die.

Be sure your family is protected because, as of today, we are all out of time and we are all on our own.
